Idle Valley Environmental Education Programme

This reconstructed wetland reserve comprises a mosaic of lakes, farms and woodlands, with the Idle Valley Wetlands Reserve, managed by Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust, at its heart. Surrounded by a dozen villages, commercial farms and industrial processing plants also operate in the area. This gives rise to tensions between a demand for jobs and opportunity with the need to preserve nature and address climate change.

We are currently raising funds for a programme to give residents, business operators and councillors the necessary information to make rational decisions in the face of threats to nature and from climate change. The programme will address climate resilience, energy use and emissions, as well as nature and biodiversity.

e-book and learning programme

In recognition of the immense value people gain from nature, we’ve produced an informative e-book which explains how people can gain these benefits through a greater connection with the natural world.

Masai Mara Management Plan

In collaboration with a range of other stakeholders, SNI is helping to facilitate the adoption of an ecosystem-wide plan for the great Mara-Serengeti region of East Africa.

We have also helped coordinate discussions between conservation academics and The World Bank in pursuit of novel conservation funding mechanisms.

Our unique proposition

The diverse SNI team of trustees, collaborators and partners gives us unparalled ability to devise, develop and implement projects within our areas of interest and expertise.

From engaging with people and communities on the ground, to facilitating discussions between funding agencies and academics, we prize our multi-stakeholder, co-creational, inter-disciplinary approach.
